We recently held a ‘Let’s talk about work’ day for Eagle, Owl and Falcon classes from our Destinations department.
The morning started with a talk by two of our local PCSOs on how to respond if you were stopped by thepolice. Discussion on different scenarios and how the police might respond to your words and actions followed.
Students then moved onto team building and initiative challenges, these types of activities are now astandard part of many interview and assessment days, particularly for apprenticeships and colleges.
The students were offered the opportunity of a mock job / college interview, and all the students prepared CVs in advance for the interviews. On the day over 95% of the students opted to do the interview. The interviews were carried out by the Rugby Rotary Club who kindly agreed to give up their morning to support us with our admin staff. The Rotarians were unbelievably impressed by all of the students.
The afternoon consisted of a series of workshops on additional skills relevant to work. Social media in the work place, risk assessments and manual handling.
We would like to thank everyone who made this day such a success, most importantly the students who were all FANTASTIC!
