Our timetable includes the core subjects of English and Maths. We also have lessons in ICT, PHSE and Careers. We look forward to enjoying more physical activities during the week, to promote a healthy lifestyle and support self regulation. We use a variety of communication strategies to develop and improve the communication of learners. We look forward to welcoming learners into Japan class.
Exciting moments from Japan will appear in this space, including any pictures or videos we take. Please keep checking in, in order to see what the learners have been up to!
This half term Japan class have been learning about instructions in English and we have enjoyed our book ‘When Jelly had a Wobble’. In maths we have looked at time and geometry focussing on shape and position. We have continued our learning about electricity making circuits that power a light and motor to move a paper fan. We have explored Freedom and democracy through the book ‘Henry’s freedom box’ thinking about Henry’s feelings and what feelings we know.
We have been reading Pandora’s box and retelling the story by writing or using pictures from the book. In maths we explored shape and pattern. We explored shape through its properties, either counting how many sides or whether the sides were curved or straight. We also looked at capacity. In geography we were engaging with food miles. We looked at maps to identify where farms were by the colours of the terrain. Science has been all about our digestive system.
We have explored costal and woodland habitats and the plants and animals that live there. In English we read The Jolly Postman and Paddington’s letters, so we have been opening envelopes, reading letters and creating our own letters. Maths has been lots of measuring, height, length and mass. In design technology we have looked at mechanisms and how to make things move. We have made sliders to make a page where the car travels side to side and Humpty falls down.
