In Crocodile class we follow a curriculum which is designed specifically for learners with Complex Needs and is based upon nurturing and individualised teaching approaches and relationships. Each term our learning will have a topic focus and these topics are on a rolling programme in order to provide our learners with a wide range of various experiences to engage with. Our curriculum has four main areas:
Our curriculum aims are to prepare our learners to fulfil their potential, be happy, to be comfortable and confident and to be ready for their future. It aims for our learners to communicate and have a voice, encourage independence, experience fresh air, physical exercise and to experience a holistic, nurturing, and person-centred, engaging sensory curriculum. Crocodile class is part of the Complex Needs phase at Brooke School and currently ranges from Year 8 to 13.
Exciting moments from Crocodile will appear in this space, including any pictures or videos we take. Please keep checking in, in order to see what the learners have been up to!
The learners in Crocodile class have been engaged in a sensory story called 'Looking After Myself' as their topic this half term was entitled 'Me!' They had lots of stimuli to engage with and explore including toothbrushes, flannels, toiletry bags, nail files, nail brushes and more. The learners worked on their engagement skills, independence skills and choosing and communication skills within this activity.
