Stingray

Welcome to Stingray Class

Stingray is a Key Stage 3 class in Middle School. Our timetable includes English, Maths, RHSE, Topic and Science. Alongside this, learners will develop their communication and independence, supported by all staff in the classroom and in our outdoor spaces. Learners will be supported to recognise different emotions and benefit from regular check-ins throughout the day. Staff will support learners to identify appropriate strategies to enable them to regulate and access their learning.

Learning Showcase

Exciting moments from Stingray class will appear in this space, including any pictures or videos we take.  Please keep checking in, in order to see what the learners have been up to!

Autumn 1

Stingray class have been learning about place value and addition in Maths. They began the year by sequencing numbers from smallest to largest. The learners then partitioned numbers into tens and ones, using Base 10 to support their understanding of this. When solving addition problems, they explored different methods that can be used to find the answer. The learners counted totals when adding two numbers using a part-part-whole model. They also added numbers using a number line.

Autumn 2

In Topic, Stingray class explored how Diwali, the Hindu festival of light, is celebrated. They followed instructions to make Burfi, a traditional Indian sweet, measuring the ingredients using scales and measuring spoons. The learners used their knowledge of technology to heat the mixture in the microwave before pressing it into a cake tin. They enjoyed eating the sweets and identifying whether they liked or disliked it, explaining the reasons for their choices. They also enjoyed participating in an Indian dance class and used their fine motor skills to make Rangoli patterns using a pipette.
