Welcome to Hedgehog Class

Hedgehog class is a Key Stage 4 class. Our class rule is ‘Respect – for yourself, for others and for the environment'. Learners engage in an adapted National Curriculum, which emphasises life skills. Our timetable includes the core subjects; English, Maths and ICT. Our learners will be working towards achieving Entry Level Functional Skills qualifications in these subjects. Our weekly timetable also covers Science, Health and Well-Being, RHSE, PE, Careers and Outdoor Learning. Though our ‘Independent Living' accreditation units we prepare our learners for life beyond Brooke. Our learners will have the opportunity to develop their skills, knowledge and experience to become as independent as possible. Trips within the local community will be arranged to practise and apply skills learnt in the classroom. We work closely with parents and outside agencies to help support our learners with their physical, emotional and communication needs, as well as supporting their academic progress. We look forward to welcoming learners into Hedgehog!

Autumn 1

Hedgehog class celebrated the long life of Queen Elizabeth II in various ways through Art, English and PSHE sessions. This included thinking and writing about what they would have said to the Queen if they had met her, designing a new postage stamp and sharing feelings of empathy towards her family by writing sympathy cards. They concluded their celebrations with a traditional British tea and cake party!
