Hedgehog

Welcome to Hedgehog Class

Hedgehog class is a Key Stage 4 class. Our class rule is ‘Respect – for yourself, for others and for the environment'. Learners engage in an adapted National Curriculum, which emphasises life skills. Our timetable includes the core subjects; English, Maths and ICT. Our learners will be working towards achieving Entry Level Functional Skills qualifications in these subjects. Our weekly timetable also covers Science, Health and Well-Being, RHSE, PE, Careers and Outdoor Learning. Though our ‘Independent Living' accreditation units we prepare our learners for life beyond Brooke. Our learners will have the opportunity to develop their skills, knowledge and experience to become as independent as possible. Trips within the local community will be arranged to practise and apply skills learnt in the classroom. We work closely with parents and outside agencies to help support our learners with their physical, emotional and communication needs, as well as supporting their academic progress. We look forward to welcoming learners into Hedgehog!

Spring 2 2024

Hedgehog have been involved in so many activities this term, a very enthusiastic class who thrive and learn through a variety of activities, this term we have been making a steady  hand game in DT and using our created circuits in science combining them together to make the finished product – our students had lots of fun designing and making this!

We have been looking at measurement in maths – and have been using various measuring methods   – trying to sequentially arrange who was the tallest to shortest!  English we have been looking at different types of text linked to the two books we have studied. Working on timelines, instructions and letter writing.

We made pom poms chicks, created printed designs on cards, coloured and made some Easter nests with eggs for our parents day.

We had the most fun on ‘World Book day’ in the wizarding world with the class decorated to the theme of Hogwarts, and different activities .
