Welcome to Deer+ Class
Deer+ is a Key Stage 4 class. Our learners need a very sensory approach to learning and so we try creative ways to teach each lesson. We include English, Maths and Science lessons into our weekly timetable, alongside some very important lessons focussing on developing life skills. Many of these are linked to accreditation units to evidence the learning taking place, for both in and out of school. We work very hard on social activities for the learners to try to get them working well with each other. Our team like to make things fun in the classroom and make every effort to ensure the safety and wellbeing of students alongside of taking every opportunity to support their learning and progress. We look forward to welcoming learners into Deer+ class.

Spring 2 2024
Deer class have completed two projects this term. We did some marketing for the Valentine's Day disco and made decorations. We also planned a trip to the Fish and Chip shop to buy lunch. We did some role play and road safety to prepare for this. Careers topic was Food and Catering. We baked cakes and practiced serving people. We sent invitations to members of staff to attend the cafe. Digital skills focused on kitchen equipment including the microwave and kettle. As part of maths we took part in Number Day and enjoyed the number games in the hall. English texts we read were 'That Rabbit belongs to Emily Brown' and 'The Bog Baby'. We made our own Bog baby and chose which habitat they would like to live in.
