Amy is Brooke School’s Speech and Language Therapist and is a registered Makaton tutor. Amy promotes communication across the school and provides additional support, potentially to any pupil, to support them in developing their social communication skills. Amy runs targeted social skills groups, sessions focussed on attention and listening skills, auditory memory, phonological awareness and one to one with selected pupils on speech sound production. In her role as a Makaton tutor, Amy promotes the use of Makaton by staff and pupils to support communication. She runs weekly sing and sign groups and has her own Makaton page on Class Dojo for families to access videos of signed songs and stories at home. Amy works alongside a team of dedicated NHS Speech and Language Therapists who support our pupils who are on the NHS caseload.
