Welcome to Giraffe Class

Giraffe class are following the Discovery pathway, this term we are focusing on 'All about me'. Focusing on our body parts and general self awareness. We're a communication friendly environment in Giraffe class. We follow  a holistic and nurturing curriculum. We're focusing on building positive relationships encouraging them to have trusted adults within the school.

Autumn 2024

This half term Giraffe class have been exploring the outdoors at Forest School, focusing on their precision with using a saw and creating leaf printed clay decorations. Giraffe class have focused on the colours seen in the forest and are beginning to recognise the term Autumn.

Spring 1 2025

We have been engaging in the book The Three Little Pigs, sequencing the story and enjoying sensory activities in relation. In Maths we have been focusing on Time, Days of the week and Months of the year, In Food Technology we are linking cooking with rhymes. In Science we have been looking at natural materials and exploring how they feel. For PSHE our topic was taking care of ourselves, the learners had lots of fun using dolls to brush hair, brush teeth and how to keep clean.

Spring 2 2025

We have been focusing on adding and length and height in Maths and in English creating and followed instructions to make a pancake. In Science the learners have looked at plants and have planted a seed and RE we have focused on belonging and being part of a group. In Forest school we have participated in several bug and plant hunts and have enjoyed sitting for a campfire and we have been able to explore the BEEBBOTS and IPAD's.

Summer 1 2025

We have been looking at Handa's surprise learning about all the different fruits and animals, touching, smelling, looking and tasting all the fruits.  We recently have also been looking at celebrations and creating our party invitations. In maths we have been learning about capacity and shapes.  We have been singing lots of different songs to help and creating patterns with shapes and potatoes. We have been learning about body parts and how they help us in Science.
