Brooke Schools’ Six Pillars of Learning
Making every lesson count.
At Brooke School, we are dedicated to ensuring that every child thrives and succeeds in their educational journey. Our teaching philosophy is focused on nurturing each child's unique strengths, fostering a love for learning, and creating a supportive environment for personal growth. By prioritising what each child needs, our teachers tailor their approach to meet the diverse needs of every student, helping all learners reach their full potential. We emphasise high-quality outcomes by setting ambitious yet achievable goals, celebrating progress, and providing the support and resources necessary for children to excel. Through this approach, we aim to inspire a lifelong passion for learning and empower students to become confident, resilient, and successful individuals.
In every lesson we expect to see all elements of the of Brooke Schools six pillars of learning.
Why the six pillars of learning?
In all lessons teachers are expected to present information clearly, promote appropriate discussion, check pupils’ understanding systematically, and identify misunderstandings and adapt teaching as necessary to correct these. Teachers
will use assessment to check pupils’ understanding to inform teaching, and to help pupils embed key concepts, use
knowledge fluently and develop their understanding. Teachers must consider the most important knowledge or
concepts that pupils need to know and focus on these, and prioritise feedback, retrieval practice and assessment.
