United States of America is a Key Stage 3 Investigator class. Our timetable includes English, Maths, Reading, as well as a range of other curricular subjects - please see the attached timetable. We encourage all learners to develop their communication skills so that they are better able to recognise and name different emotions. This will then enable them to express their feelings so that appropriate support can be offered. We also encourage learners to take an increasingly independent approach to their learning by allowing them to freely access support resources around the classroom. In United States of America, we all care for each other and demonstrate the values of respect, care and co-operation daily. We work hard to ensure all members of our class feel safe, happy and special.
Exciting moments from United States of America class will appear in this space, including any pictures or videos we take. Please keep checking in, in order to see what the learners have been up to!
This half term the learners have really enjoyed taking part in Food Technology where the pizza whirls were a popular favourite with the learners. They've really enjoyed exploring rhythms on the drums in music. The learners have developed their coding skills in computing. In English we have been learning about persuasive letter writing and will present these to Greg, Selina and Charlie next week. The learners have enjoyed exploring money using coins.
We have welcomed parents / carers into class to join us for maths. Celebrated National Number Day by dressing up for digits, using ballons to sort numbers and count in multiples. Getting creative with recording number facts and comparing the numerical systems of Britain, China as well as Romans and Arabic numbers. We welcomed Vish from Birmingham College University, who told us about some of the opportunities that are possible for our learners.
We have been busy learning about the Vikings in history. We have linked this learning to our Design and Technology work and created Viking longships. We have welcomed Claire to school to deliver our music lessons. We have been learning about timbre and texture. We have explored these further by creating a soundscape to accompany our English learning from last term for "The Tunnel" by Antony Browne. We also welcome parents in to the Science Fair.

This half term has whizzed by but has been filled with lots of learning and laughter. The highlights have included all learners joining in with the Image Musical Theatre production of The Jungle Book; learners being invited to literally climb the wall (!); and inviting parents in to the Forest School Curriculum Event - thank you to all who have supported. |
